Body to Clay

An opportunity to slow down, feel, and reconnect with yourself through clay.
In a world that rarely pauses, this retreat is an invitation to slow down, to step back from constant doing and return to feeling. Through simple body awareness and intuitive clay work, you are encouraged to reconnect with the self, not through thought, but through touch, sensation, and feeling. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Meet Meliha Selin Eren
Retreat Leader - Body to Clay
Meliha Selin Eren is a multidisciplinary artist working with ceramics, installation, video, and performative storytelling.

Born in Turkey, Selin's practice is shaped by ancient geographies, mythology, and the relationship between body, nature, and memory. Educated in Turkey and India, including Kala Bhavana and Vinaya Bhavan (Yogic Science & Art), her work combines spiritual research with material practice to explore transformation, femininity, ritual, and collective consciousness.
Retreat Overview
What the Week Looks Like
This intentionally small retreat offers a space to reconnect with your innerself through intuitive work with clay. Open to all levels, it combines artistic exploration with inner awareness, inviting participants to approach the process with curiosity and to explore how body awareness can be expressed through making.

A typical day might include:
  • Morning session exploring clay with Selin
  • Shared lunch at Dar Drouj
  • Free time to rest, journal, or explore
  • Optional cultural excursion or artisan visit
  • Evening gathering or relaxed dinner together
  • Time for reflection, connection, or an impromptu song or two
What Makes this Retreat Worthwhile

Unlike a typical ceramics workshop, this retreat does not focus on skills, techniques, or finished objects. Instead, the emphasis is on process, presence, and personal experience, using clay as a medium for awareness, exploration, and reconnection.

Body to Clay Sessions

Each day includes guided sessions with Selin, where you’ll explore body awareness and intuitive work with clay. Through gentle, process-led practices, you’ll be invited to connect with sensation, movement, and touch, using clay as a way to explore feeling rather than form to reconnect with yourself through the act of making.
Beyond the Retreat
Outside the retreat sessions, there's plenty of time to slow down and enjoy the magic of Fez. Wander the medina, meet local artisans, and take part in cultural excursions that deepen your connection to the city. You’ll also have time to rest, journal, and simply enjoy the company of fellow participants.

A Place to Call Home

You’ll be staying at Dar Drouj, a beautifully restored 14th-century home in the Medina. With quiet corners, a sunlit atrium, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the city, the house offers comfort, calm, and space to create. It’s the kind of place where conversations flow, meals are shared, and inspiration is always close by.
