A place to stay, no expectations, and a city that invites exploration and creativity
Create in Fez. Connect with the city. Be part of a shared story
Over eight weeks in autumn 2025, we’ll be hosting a rotating group of Moroccan and international visual artists with accommodation in two private apartments right in the heart of Fez Medina.

Whether two artists stay for eight weeks, sixteen artists for one week each, or something in between, the residency is flexible, and the structure is simple but powerful - a place to stay, no expectations, and a city that invites exploration and creativity.
your chance to create in the medina
We’re offering selected visual artists private accommodation in the heart of Fez Medina for 1 to 8 weeks. There are no production requirements, just time, space, and the freedom to explore. And your accommodation is on us.

Private accommodation in the heart of Fez Medina

Stay in a private artist apartment within the Medina, with accommodation provided to selected artists. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be part of the city’s creative rhythm. Residencies are flexible in length - from one to eight weeks.

A cultural environment that encourages creativity

Fez is full of everyday inspiration - from artisan workshops and tiled courtyards, call to prayer and street art. The 8WEEKSinFEZ residency invites artists to engage with the city as both setting and subject.

Time, space and creative freedom

There are no deadlines, no pressure to produce or exhibit. This is your time - to explore, recharge, experiment, or just reconnect with your practice in whatever way feels right for you.

Looking to deepen your experience?

If you'd like to go deeper, we offer studio access, artisan visits, and cultural workshops - flexible add-ons designed to help you connect with the city in a more hands-on, immersive way. These are available at a small additional cost.
what makes fez so special

Fez Medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the oldest and largest medina in the world, the largest car-free urban zone, and the oldest functioning university on earth.

It’s a city where the arts and crafts traditions of Morocco - from weaving and ceramics to woodwork and zellige tile - are still deeply rooted and vibrantly alive.

Creativity and artisanship are part of daily life here. Tradition hums through every alleyway, and the past and present meet in unexpected ways.

From tiled fountains to weaving workshops, call to prayer to bursts of street art - Fez invites you to slow down, look closer, and rediscover your creative rhythm.
why this residency stands out
8WEEKSinFEZ isn’t your typical residency. It’s flexible, artist-led, and deeply rooted in place. You’ll have the chance to stay and create in one of the world’s most historically and culturally rich cities - with no pressure to produce, and full freedom to follow your own rhythm.

Whether you come for a week or the whole eight, it’s about slowing down, finding inspiration, and becoming part of a creative story that connects people, place, and practice.
